            My top choices

There you go, I hope you have found something useful for your special kid, a potty toilet seat that will inspire him to go back again and again until he is fully trained.

If your child is still small, my personal choice would be the Fisher-Price Laugh & Learn, Puppy Potty because it is comfortable, easy to clean and with additional bonus, that includes the electronic book and the positive reinforcement that it brings through the fun phrases, songs and realistic flushing sound

For bigger boys and girls, I choose the BabyBjorn potty chair because it is stable and comfortable. Also, it is easy to clean and comes in different colours.

Depending on the capabilities and readiness of your special child, toilet training could be a struggle or a big challenge but with the help of the potty training toilet seat and your patience in training your kid, they will eventually hate their diapers and you will soon forget how hard training was.

Just try to be very patient and put some fun in letting your child be successful a lot of times.

            Rewards definitely help!

            1. Great read, I did’nt actually know there was so many out there. We purchased our toddler the puppy potty as it had the flushable button and he loved that he was able to flush like mummy and daddy after.
I did find it a little harder when transitioning him later as our toilet was so much larger. I can see now that there was options available that we could have used to assist us with that,

              • Hi Clair,

It’s always good to have choices that our kids can be comfortable with.

Transitioning is definitely always a challenge for them to be fully toilet-trained later.

I hope your toddler is now enjoying his independence.

                Thanks for reading.

            3. Hi there!!

It’s really an amazing idea, I personally have 2 kids- 3 year old  and a 10 month old baby.

I would absolutely like to get one for my baby when she gets 3 years old. I’d like to get all of them, but the one that impressed me is the frog one. It is so cute. I will definitely share this page with my friends.

              Thank you.

            4. Hi there and thanks for your informative article

I really love your site and the fact that it is dedicated to your late sister. As a teacher, I really do want to emphasis the importance of children being toilet trained before they are sent to any school, but in particular a special school. There are so many demands placed on teachers and carers as it is, so ensuring that your child can adequately take themselves to the bathroom is of paramount importance.

The products you list here are all good but I particularly like those with steps. Many young children find the physical height of a toilet daunting so the step ladders go a long way to help with this

              • Hi Marketa,

I definitely agree with you that teachers and assistants have lots of responsibilties so kids being toilet trained are a lot of less work for you.

And yes, that potty with steps makes kids feel that they are big kids and more responsible aside from making them more confident to go to the toilet by themselves.

                Thanks for reading.

            5. This is a great information about ten best potty training toilet seats. I feel like been born again, starting all over again because of this information. I wish my parents  had this knowledge then so that they would provide for one of this in my childhood days. What was available then was seating on a small custard rubber or a canal in front of the house for those living in the village or better still, the bush. I will bookmark this page so that I can go through this article again

            8. Pretty impressive choices you shared here. But this has made me wonder, what might be the effective if I don’t buy any of these? You know, we can imagine what will be the good effects or benefits of having these. Thinking of the opposite, if I don’t buy any of these, what might be the outcome?

Another thing… At what age of the child we can notice he or she’s a special child? I asked this because, I am a single man and soon I am getting married. So, what if this happen to me or to my baby? How will I know if my child is a special child, and at what age I can notice he or she’s different from the rest?

              • Hi Gomer,

                Congratulations on your upcoming marriage!

When you have a baby, you will notice something different in him since you will see him everyday. Like if he will not look at you or respond to you when you talk to him, he might have hearing difficulty or he might have signs of autism. For some, they might have facial features that suggest they have Down syndrome, etc.

I’m sure you might have observed other babies or kids, especially moms or your wife-to- be, and you can compare how your child will develop, like at a certain age, they can crawl or sit down on their own, etc.

There will be signs for sure at a certain age, so if you see these signs, even if they are subtle, go bring him to the doctor for proper assessment.

For the potty training, some parents choose not to buy the training set. It’s perfectly fine as long as you observe that your kid is comfortable sitting on the adult toilet bowl. Your training might come later because of this.

                Thanks for reading.

            9. I’m really interested in several of your recommendations for a relative of mine. She’s been having some issues finding a seat that’s easy to clean and sturdy, so I’m glad I came across this post. The two I’m looking at are the Summer Infant My Size Potty and the BabyBjorn Potty Chair.

They look simple enough to maintain, but also pretty solid from a construction standpoint. Which of the two would you suggest for a single mom that’s been struggling to get her little one trained?

Cheers, and thanks again for the write-up!

              • Hi Buck,

It will depend on the size of the baby,  if he is on the small side, the Summer infant my size potty is okey. If the baby is on the bigger size, the  BabyBjorn potty chair would be the best choice.

Glad that you found this post helpful to your relative.

                Thanks for reading.

I know Hailey understands simple instructions so you can start training her. I’m sure it will take a while before she is fully trained but she will eventually get there. And you are right, you need more patience and understanding.

            11. Hi, the first year training wheels is so cool, my son would love that. Are there any unicorn versions for little girls? The others are also really good although I think some of them are a little bit boring. The main thing is to use a potty that will get “bums on seats” and at this age that’s easier said then done.

            12. Personally, as a dad, I’d choose the BabyBjorn Potty Chair. Looks handy enough and can be used for both genders.

It is easy to clean as well, which could make life at home more comfortable when you have small kids and most especially if you have a special kid.

              Have a nice week ahead.

Great review! Potty training can be quite difficult for some children and I can imagine it is harder for those who have special needs. There is such a variety of seats available and you have broken the review down nicely into easily digestible sections. I also like what you have recommended at the end for children who are small and those who are bigger to make the decision process easier.

As you’ve mentioned, patience is key. Thanks

You are correct, potty training is much more challenging for children with special needs and I believe choosing the potty training seat that would be most comfortable and maybe amusing for them would help the parents in making the transition more successful in a short time.

                Thanks for reading.
