Inside: Read the latest support that we extended to the special needs kids for the “Adopt a learner project” plus updates on our project, the indoor play area.

School has started at the Romblon East Central School, Romblon, Philippines on June 8, 2026.

As usual, we at Pangga ta Ikaw has again extended our financial help to the Special needs kids whom we have been helping since 2015.

This school year, we donated P5000.00 ( five thousand pesos ) as part of Brigada Eskwela 2026- Adopt a Learner project, catering to 5 indigent students for their school supplies ( notebooks, crayons, pencils, erasers, writing papers, folders, scissors, etc. ) and a school bag.

Pangga ta Ikaw, is an endeavor and a group of benevolent people including my own family, that we started in 2015 to commemorate the one year death anniversary of my sister Pangga, who had Down syndrome. Learn more about our group here.

Our biggest project at the Romblon East Central School special needs program is the indoor play area that we started to build in 2017 and finished in 7 years with blessing and inauguration on January 12, 2024.

Watch the special event here.

We promise to continue supporting our special needs students in this program and continue with the maintenance of the play area.

Once a week, our special needs kids are allowed to play in the therapy area, usually as a big group, or even in small groups, with the supervision of our SPED teachers.

Here are recent photos when some of the kids used the play area.

We, at Pangga ta Ikaw are so happy to see that our special kids are enjoying the indoor play area that we built in 2017.

Ongoing maintenance is our concern and recently, the ceiling has been having issues and we hope to again help in the repair.

If you want to help and even become a monthly donor, you are most welcome. Please email at admin@panggataikaw.com so we can send you the details on how you can send your donation.

  1. What a wonderful initiative! Supporting the Adopt a Learner Project through Brigada Eskwela really shows how Pangga ta Ikaw is committed to uplifting children with special needs. That P5K donation may seem small to some, but for the five indigent students who received school supplies, it’s a huge boost as they start the school year. It’s inspiring to see organizations step in to bridge gaps and remind these kids and their families that they are not alone.

Are there plans to continue this kind of support throughout the school year, perhaps by helping with other needs like uniforms or learning materials, so the assistance goes beyond the opening month of classes?

    • Hi Leica,

Thanks for your nice words. Yes, we do send support especially financial, if there are other activities like the Special Olympics, which is usually held in another town.

The maintenance of the indoor play area that we built for them is also being taken cared of, anytime.

      God bless,

      Marita

  2. I really enjoyed reading about your Adopt-a-Learner Project and the updates to the indoor play area. It’s encouraging to see people investing their time and effort into creating a better environment for children to learn and grow. Even improvements that may seem small can have a lasting impact on a child’s daily experience and development. Thank you for sharing the progress of your project. Do you have additional plans or goals for the program in the future? I look forward to following its continued success.

    • Hi Bryce,

Thank you for the nice words. Our family has committed to support the Special Education program in the elementary school in our home town, since my sister with Down syndrome passed. It’s our tribute to her life.

This indoor play area is the biggest project that we have done so far and we will continue to help with its ongoing maintenance like repairs, if needed.

WE also help in other school activities like when the special kids have special olympics, we give financial help for food.

Throughout the school year, we are in contact with the SPEd teachers and we volunteer whatever we can help when they have some programs.

      Appreciate your good wishes.

    • Hi Shafna,

This “Adopt a Learner ” project is part of Brigada Eskwela ( School Brigade ) a nation-wide program, of the Department of Education in the Philippines, at the start of every school year.

If you would like to make your own project of giving school supplies or any materials like books to students, you can contact a school in your area and talk to the principal or school administrator. You can make this your birthday project or during a special occasion, like Christmas.

You can also connect with us at Pangga ta Ikaw, to help out with our indoor play therapy area or you can donate school materials as well, at your convenience. Our contact info: admin@panggataikaw.com or you can donate through our Go fund me page here:

Glad that we have inspired you.

      God bless,

      Marita
